JULIE MALINOWSKI obtained her masters of science in Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, and herbology from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. After graduating she interned at the Guangzhou Medical University in China. Julie is licensed and nationally certified in massage therapy. Utilizing her knowledge in acupunture pressure points, her treatments balance deep tissue and Swedish Massage to release muscle tension and stress. She has training in Shiatsu, Pregnancy Massage, and Pranic Healing as well. Julie strives to create a healing atmosphere that is unique to each client's individual needs for total relaxation.
KRISTINE GAYLORD graduated from the Chicago School of Massage Therapy in 1993. Her treatments involve breath work that will take you to a higher level of relaxation. Kristine specializes in Deep Tissue Shiatsu and movement with energy work. Kristine is also very knowledgeable in Swedish, Hot Stone, and Pregnancy Massages.
KATIE MULCAHY is an expert esthetician with 10 years of experience. In 2006, Katie was voted "Chicago's Best Facial" by Allure Magazine. For 7 years she has been at Studio Within, where she built a loyal clientele who loves her custom cleansing facials and waxing. Always making her clients calm and comfortable, Katie will leave you feeling nurtured and revived.
JOHN LUSK is a color specialist who began his career 15 years ago in River North. He has worked as a stylist downtown on Oak Street and Michigan Avenue for many years. In 2001, he made his way to Lakeview to join Studio Within. John graduated from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management, thus he humorously refers to himself as “the best-educated hairdresser in Chicago.” John does a thorough consultation with you, explaining options, giving advice, and helping you to make your haircolor choices. He hits the target every time.
TONYA SAQIID is a skillful esthetician and makeup artist with 13 years experience in the beauty industry. She studied stage makeup at Columbia College Chicago and earned her certificate in esthetics at the Skincare and Spa Institute in Skokie, IL. While in school, she began freelancing as a makeup artist. Tonya landed contracts at several cosmetic companies including- Calvin Klein, Christian Dior, Caudalie, and Laura Mercier. In 2004, after six years of working as a regional artist for Laura Mercier, she made her transition into the spa industry. Tonya became Kiva Day Spa’s premiere makeup artist and skin therapist. The Chicago-Sun Times recognized her eyelash extension services in an article entitled, "Eyes Have It" making the service hugely popular. In 2006, she received the Star Award, Premier Salons International top honor, for her outstanding services.
PETRUCIA FINKLER was born in Brazil and discovered at 9 years old that she could use a regular deck of playing cards to predict the future, at 12 she fell in love with both Tarot and Astrology. After college she decided to study astrology at a deeper level. At Escola Meio do Céu (Midheaven School) she studied under the supervision of Tania Rathman and also took classes with Diana Vergara and Clovis Peres - three renowned Brazilian astrologers. For five years she was responsible for the monthly horoscope column for a teenage fashion website. She has been living in Chicago for over eight years and is very excited to be at Studio Within Salon/Spa.
ERIC MAJESKI graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Rensselaer, the nation’s oldest technological university. Before focusing on his bio-energy healing gifts, for 10 years, he brought his high energy and entrepreneurial spirit to the world of business, building a multi-million financial firm, and also starting an independent record label. A lifelong student and truth seeker, he followed his passion and became a partner in a metaphysical bookstore. It was there he was able to develop his natural empathic and intuitive gifts, studying with teachers and healers from all over the world. Eric is a Reiki Master in the traditional Usui System of Natural Healing, and a certified Advanced Psych-K facilitator. He has apprenticed with a Native American Elder and received his medicine bag to serve others. His passion is empowering people to transcend limiting beliefs to find their joy and lead a most authentic and fulfilling life. He leads a life full of joy, adventure, and growth, and so may you.
SARAH BELL received her Master of Acupuncture degree in 2003 at the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine/Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. She is NCCAOM board certified and is licensed to practice acupuncture by the State of Illinois. She recently relocated to Chicago from Atlanta, where she had a busy general practice with an emphasis on womens' health. She has had a lot of experience working with women undergoing western fertility treatments (such as IUI & IVF), along with many other issues that acupuncture addresses: energy, sleep, pain, allergies, digestion, hormonal balancing, depression/anxiety, immunity, and stress. Sarah uses gentle needling, tuning forks, lifestyle recommendations and other treatment modalities for your health and comfort. Many people find treatment to be invaluable in experiencing life with less stress and more strength & peace.
